Professional and Psychological Perspectives: Female Sexuality after Spinal Cord Injury in Asia

Sexuality is a complex human phenomenon involving aspects of physiological and psychological functioning. Spinal cord injury (SCI) disrupts motor, sensory also affect many aspects of the injured person’s life, including their sexuality. To identify the psychological and Rehabilitation Professional aspects of sexuality after their injury in South Asia. After a spinal cord injury, a person may still have the same desires for sex, being in a sexual relationship and having children as before the injury; their desires may be similar to those of their peers.

Methods/Material: This study used both qualitative and professional view also the article review. There was some research article in the Asian region all qualitative and clinician’s views which are included in the result section. In-depth interviews were held with a sub-group of women from both groups, and interview guides were used. The in-depth interview data was subjected to content analysis. The literature search here, OT Seeker, Google search, Google Scholar, PubMed, American Occupational Therapy Journal, International Speech pathology journal, Australian Speech Pathology organizations and Hinari searched for literature related to the contribution to and involvement how can improve their sexual function after injury.

Conclusion: Sexuality does not have to change after spinal cord injury. Women with SCI can still express sexuality both physically and emotionally. Enhancing an individual’s ability to participate in sexual activities can have a profound effect on that person’s life. Providing empathy and appropriate information, devising adaptations, and encouraging experimentation to find resolutions can be invaluable services to clients.
